The King's Speech

LetZzz comment about the Oscar's winner - "The King's Speech"

Even though "The King's Speech" was known as one of the favorites on this years Academy Awards since the nominations went public, I've seen the movie last night. And I totally agree with the Academy that this movie deserves all the respect. It's an unwritten rule that real-life true stories and movies about historical people are something the Academy prefer. And when you have the both, combined with excellent team there is just one possible way to end it - like a winner! If my opinion is considered the "main" award is absolutely deserved.
The story in centered in the period before and shortly after the kind of Britain King George VI gets to the throne. And now you probably believe that it is just some boring historical movie... well, not really! The King, played by Colin Firth, had speech disorder - he was stuttering. And after dozen of doctors who's bizarre methods didn't helped, with the help of his wife Elizabeth, played by the magnificent Helena Bohnam Carter, he found Lionel Logue (played by another legend Geoffrey Rush). And yeah, meanwhile he becomes the king, after his brother puts a woman in the first place, instead of the throne.
I would, once again, make a comparison with my personal opinion with the Academy Awards. The table below shows the nomination and the results. :D

With 12 nominations and 4 Oscars, including the "main" ones "Best Picture" and "Directing" I believe everything is said. :D
The story is great in may aspects. The movie is historical and viewers can definitely learn something from it. For example, I hadn't known that George VI was not the oldest son; I didn't knew he stuttered; I didn't knew how discipline the entire thing is... I mean, I knew there are very strict rules (mostly because of "Queen") but... However, the movie is also making the image of the whole role of being king in modern days. We all know that nowadays the British royalty is one of the few with that much power and influence. So, it's also social. Psychological, that's for sure. And from the aspect of "portraiture" of the characters... I'm impressed.

Colin Firth in main role was more that excellent! He totally deserved the Oscar! On the other hand Helena Bohnam Carted in the role of Kind George's wife - Elizabeth, was fantastic. She's not in the center of the movie, but her presence is more than noticeable. We're used to see her in Tim Barton's masterpieces (and in one of my favorite acts of hers - (Mary Shelley's) Frankenstein), but with this role she just showed, once again, that she is one of the most talented living actresses out there. And Geoffrey Rush (who, I mostly remember from his outstanding role in "Quills") is just one of the people in the team who has already proved how good he is in what he does.

The rest of the crew have all done their job perfectly, and that's why I believe that this movie deserved all those nomination, and probably even more "Golden boys"! It's Flawless!
So I guess that I would end here, because if I continue to write, this would be a long post full with the best compliments.... OK, just one more thing! :D There is not much of a humor, but pay attention on those thiny "tricks" and jokes... I find them hilarious! :)
WhatZzz your opinion? ;)
